The shame of it all

Have you seen the Dog Shaming blog on tumblr?

I think it's hilarious. I used to complain a lot about my dog - but compared to these canine miscreants he was a prince.

Every once in a while, there's a cat on the blog, but the interesting thing is, the dogs usually manage to look sorry for their misdeeds. [Some of them do anyway]. Dogs can feel shame, so the whole concepts works.

But cats are never sorry.

They do what they do because they can, and if it bothers anyone, well, that's just too bad.

I decided to try to shame my cats. I think they look more bored than repentant, but at least I was able to get them to confess.

[The signs could be a little bigger, and of course, you can't hang a sign on a cat like you can a dog, and usually they just walk away while you're trying to photograph them.]

Has your dog done anything shameful? Or has your cat done something he should be ashamed of but isn't? Tell me about it.

Those are hilarious. I don't think a cat's shame would be things like that, though. A cat would be proud of the rotten things it does. No, it would go more like: "I beg for food like a dog." (Kira's) Or "I love it when Mom carries me like a baby and rubs my belly." (Max's)

Oh, the secret shame. ;o)

My cat Pippin's would be "I take advantage of Miss Kitty's deafness by sneaking up and getting a really good sniff of her hind parts."

He's perfected the art of getting a really good snootful without actually touching her. If she realizes he's there, he has to move fast to escape the claws and jaws of vengeance.

And yes, they're both altered.

JB, dogs and cats both don't like to defile surfaces that are easily cleaned.

B.E. - You may be right. Admitting a weakness for cuddling might be more shameful for a cat than confessing to bad behavior.

Angelica, cats are masters at taking advantage of any situation.
