Hi! For those of you who aren't familiar with me, I'm B.E. and to
kick off my joining The Killer Chicks family, I thought I'd post a
little bit of 'get to know ya' stuff. In fact, I think I'll borrow a
suggestion from Clarice's post on Friday (Do You Interview?) and answer the questions she suggested we use to get to know our characters better - you know, just to start the ball rolling.
Here goes nuthin'...
What is the worst thing your character has done to someone, and why?
I cheated on a boyfriend in college. Our relationship was already on
the fast track downhill, but I really should've had the courage to break
it off before I spent the night with someone else. Not proud of
myself, but like I always say 'I am not the same gal I was back then.'
What makes your character laugh out loud?
Funny animal videos get me every time. There's this one of a cat
sitting on the arm of a couch watching the fishtank. Out of the blue,
it jumps at the fish, hits the side of the tank and slides down. Yeah, I
have a sick sense of humor sometimes. I blame a childhood spent
devoted to Bugs Bunny cartoons.
If your character could be any animal what would it be?
I'd be a bird. Probably a raptor of some kind - like a Merlin or a
Redtail. Or I might become a Great Horned Owl. They're too cool. (And
in case you haven't guessed, I'm a bird nerd.)
What are you lying to yourself about? That
I'll ever stick to some kind of exercise routine. I'm profoundly lazy
and even though I have the best of intentions, I know myself. Or as my
father always meant to say (because this is too clean a blog to say what
he really said), "Intentions are for doodle." My father - he was a
wise man, but no Yoda.
Okay, now that the fun's out of
the way, here's a little bit about me that isn't in the bio. I've been
at this writing thing for going on 9 years this month, and have cranked
out 13 novel length manuscripts. And yeah, I'm not published yet. Not
for lack of trying, mind you, but they say a big part of getting
published is luck. Luck and I have a sporadic love/hate relationship.
My
books are in the genres of suspense (naturally, since I'm here at The
Killer Chicks), dystopian/futuristic/post-apocalyptic, and urban
fantasy. Which means I not only kill things in present time, but I also
kill things in the future and in an alternate magical place. ;o)
So,
I hope you'll continue to come back to The Killer Chicks and visit me
from to time. (And if you like what you see, check out my blogs.)
Now,
it's your turn. How would you answer the character interview
questions? Or if you're uncomfortable with those, tell us a little
about yourself. Or, to paraphrase a quote from The Muppet Christmas
Carol, "Come in so we can know you better, man!" (Cuz, yeah, I'm the
kind of killer who quotes the Muppets.)

So excited for your new gig here at Killer Chicks, B.E. - and great idea on the 'character interview'!! I think I knew all of this about you already, except for the 13 manuscripts...hey, 2013 - 13 manuscripts - this could be your year!!!
As for me, I'm also unpublished and if I could be any animal, I would be a spoiled rotten dog (I have one and there are some days when I see her stretched out on the couch, enjoying her nap, I think: Now, that's the life!)!!
We're excited to have you here! (We've never had a Muppet quoter before.)
Your stack of manuscripts is quite impressive.
If I could be any animal I'd be one of my dogs, if only so that I could know what's going on in their heads!!
Welcome, B.E! It's great to have you here. If I had to choose, I'd like to be a cat - they can sleep all they want to and I swear mine can teleport from place to place.
LOL, Janet. So maybe 13 is my lucky number after all?
I'm an everything quoter, JB. It used to drive my husband nuts, but he's had 9 years to get used to it.
Thanks, Clarice! I totally get the cat thing. Laying around, eating, watching whatever catches their attention... hey, I think that is my life. ;o)
Hey B.E! Congrats on your new gig! I love animal videos too, thought I'm a total dog person.
Today, if I could be any animal, I would be dragon--I really need to breathe some fire into my story :-)
Publishing is a LOT of luck. I've said this a million times: Right Place, Right Time, Right Product. Keep at it, and your time will come!
Hi Jen! Thanks for stopping by for my maiden post! I hope you find your dragon today. =o)
B.E., you crack me up. But then so does JB. I want to be funny when I grow up. Or clever. Either one. I've added Killer Chicks to the ol' RSS feed so I can keep track each morning.
Animal...not sure. I married into Hawk Clan and split Horse Clan and Wolf Clan on my maternal side. Hey, what can I say? I have three of Five Civilized Tribes covered. LOL
Ha! I love those kind of videos too.
I had no idea you'd written so much! Wow. Very impressive.
Good luck this year, and awesome you're w the Killer Chicks now! So cool!
I'm only funny online, Silver. ;o) Thanks for stopping by and adding The Killer Chicks to your feed.
I just keep cranking them out, Colene. The problem is a bunch of them aren't edited, and the ones that are weren't what the agents were looking for. But I keep trying! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the good wishes.
I loved the Muppets! It was nice to learn about you via these questions! I am a reader only. I leave the writing to all you guys. If I could be any animal I would definitely be a shape shifter. Yea, it isn't a real animal, but to be able to shift into an animal when I want to run fast or intimidate people would be fun. Hope 2013 brings you lots of happiness and success!
You are, occasionally, funny in person too Mom. Sometimes.
Every once in awhile.
Anyway, congrats on your new blogging thing. I know you'll do great.
P.S. She does quote everything. Trust me.
Thanks, Amy! Always nice to meet a fellow Muppet lover. And thanks for being a reader. We writers appreciate people like you so much. I hope 2013 brings you happiness and success, too. =o)
That, folks, is my only progeny and since she's been with me for going on 20 years, she'd know. Thanks for the belief in me, Kid. :hugs:
Yay, first post! I learned some new stuff, even though I've known you a few years now :)
Me and my son play the 'if I could be an animal' game, and always include supernatural animals, in which case I'd be a dragon :)
Ah, the good old days when the Kid was still small enough to want to play pretend. Have fun, Alexia, and pretend to be a dragon for me. ;o)
