What books are YOU thankful for?

Recently I recommended that a friend read PRESUMED INNOCENT by Scott Turow.  I LOVED this book when it came out…the movie, not so much…I suspect because I knew the twist.

I started thinking about what books I recommend most, those I'm most thankful for because I enjoyed them so much. Here's a terribly incomplete list, in no particular order (and as you can tell, all weren't chosen because I loved them as an adult, lol)

Where the Wild Things Are
Are You There God?  It's me Margaret
The Outsiders
To Kill a Mockingbird
Charlotte's Web
Patriot Games
The Eagle Has Landed
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
The 87th Precinct Mysteries
The Spenser Novels
The Spellman Files series
The Laura Ingalls Wilder series
Little Women
Most of the Harry Potter series
The Wizard of Oz Books
A Time to Kill

and on, and on, and on.

Tell me Killer Friends, what books are YOU thankful for?

WE are thankful that you stop by the blog. For those that celebrate, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for every book I read. The good ones inspire me and elate me, give me reasons to think and time to not think, change my life and move me forward. The bad ones show me how I can be better in my own writing. =o)

I agree with B.E. but there are a few that stick out:

NAKED IN DEATH (JD Robb) - my chicken soup book
GREEN EGGS AND HAM (Dr. Seuss) - Only and I read it over and over and over
WRITTEN IN RED (Anne Bishop) - reminded my why I love fantasy
THE BEASTMASTER (Andre Norton) - my first foray into SciFi
THE MOONSPINNERS (Mary Stewart) - made me want to write like her when I grew up.

I love books but there are definitely ones that stand out to me maybe because of what was going on.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (Lucy Maud Montgomery) - my childhood favorite
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (HARPER LEE) - The book that makes me thankful for high school English programs
THE DIVINERS (Margaret Lawrence) - one of my fav Canadian authors
HAVE YOU SEEN BIRDS (Barbara Reid) - my daughter's favorite
FORTUNE'S ROCKS (Anita Shevre) One of the first book club books we read almost 13 years ago.
SEA SWEPT (Nora Roberts) - writing lightbulb moment
