Hey All. My most profound apologies for not posting yesterday. I totally lost track of what day it was. Of course, this seems to be a regular thing and you should all feel free to jab me with a pointy stick.
What I did do yesterday morning was pull weeds. There's nothing so cathartic as going out into the property and attacking the noxious plants where they've encroached. Bad day? Kill weeds. Frustrated? Kill weeds. Unsure of your place in the universe? Kill weeds. Need to think through a storyline or a plot hole or a bit of dialogue? Kill weeds.
Lord knows there's enough of them. And if you pull them today, they'll be back in a couple weeks to help you sort through things all over again.
I don't even know what kinds of weeds they are. I think some of them are nettles. Some of them kind of look like clovers or shamrocks. There are plantains (not the bananas - a different kind) and dandelions, of course, but for the most part, I'm clueless. And I don't really care. If I didn't plant it, it dies. I even took out a small, unidentified tree because it had decided to grow somewhere it shouldn't have been and it was blocking out the sun my azaleas need to survive. Buh-bye.
And now the iris bed and the azaleas are like 90% weed free (because I can't get everything) and they look like someone actually cares about living here.
Of course, now I'm also feeling the effects of all that bending and kneeling and pulling in my thighs, butt, and back. Woohoo. Keep this up and I'll have buns of steel. Still, there's nothing like the feeling of a job well done. And the catharsis is good, too.
What do you do when you need to work through something? Do you garden or do you have another strategy?
